Three Chinese nationals were arrested in Nairobi following a police operation targeting suspected adulterated alcohol and illegal ethanol distillation.
The suspects were arrested on Saturday, August 8, 2026, during an intelligence-led operation following information that Chinese nationals were allegedly distilling alcoholic drinks at Shanzi Apartment in the Riara area.
Police said officers who raided the apartment recovered 31 white jerrycans containing a substance suspected to be ethanol and three distilling apparatus.
The three suspects reportedly declined to give their names during police interrogation.
They were booked as unknown foreigners pending forensic analysis of the recovered substances and further investigations.
A motor vehicle allegedly used to transport the suspected ethanol was also detained.
Police said the suspects could be arraigned after investigations and forensic analysis of the exhibits are completed.
