Police are investigating the circumstances under which a matatu tout working with Lopha Travels, which plies the Nairobi CBD – Ruiru route, fell and died.
Nahashon Ng’ang’a succumbed to injuries he sustained in an accident that happened Sunday, March 12.
Ng’ang’a, who died on Wednesday at the Kenyatta University Teaching and Referral Hospital, was saved by Good Samaritans after he was found on Thika Superhighway after he fell off a moving matatu.
It is not clear why his driver did not stop to help him to the hospital.
Police are investigating the incident and the circumstances under which it happened.
He sustained head injuries after the fall.
Daniel Waweru, the deceased’s brother, claimed the deceased had a commotion with the driver whom they were working on Saturday night, and the drama extended to the following morning.
“Unfortunately nobody knows how it ended.”
Waweru said his brother sustained serious head injuries and was rushed to the K.U hospital where he was admitted in the ICU until Wednesday afternoon when he succumbed.
“We do not have the evidence to clarify whether he was pushed, or whether he was kicked out or he jumped on his own or whether he was knocked down by a vehicle,” he added.
Ruiru Police Commander Alex Shikondi said the vehicle caught on social media was the one that rescued and rushed the victim to the hospital, adding that they had commenced investigations into the case.
“We have no any eye witness who witnessed the accident, but we have opened the file and we are urging the members of the public who might have witnessed the accident to come up and record statements,” he said.
An autopsy is expected to be conducted on Friday to determine the cause of death as the family plans for burial next week, the family said.
