A family was left mourning after their five-year-old girl drowned in an uncovered well in Akala, Gem, Siaya County.
Police said the incident happened on April 22 in the Kanyadet area where the minor who was playing with her friends drowned.
The body was later retrieved and moved to the mortuary for autopsy, police said.
It was among four cases reported on Wednesday alone.
In Muthetheni area, Machakos County, a Form three student at Ngamba Secondary School drowned in Yondoni river while on a swimming expedition.
The body was retrieved and moved to a local mortuary for autopsy.
In Kitui’s Kalivu area, one Kanini, Kimeu Kiminza, 36 drowned in a dam along Nguni river, police said.
The body was discovered by villagers while fetching water in the same dam.
Police officers visited the scene and with assistance from members of the public retrieved the body with no physical injuries and moved to the mortuary for autopsy.
More than 130 people have in the past three months been killed in separate drowning incidents due to flooding.
The floods also displaced dozens others, officials said amid efforts to address the situation.
The meteorological department has warned of more rains in separate places in the country in the coming days.
And a 12-year-old-boy was admitted to hospital after a snake bite incident in Moyale, Marsabit County.
The boy was taking care of goats in the Somare area when the snake bit him in the leg. He was rushed to hospital where he was admitted in a stable condition, officials said amid search for the snake,
Meanwhile, a total of 18 people were killed in separate overnight road accidents in the country on Wednesday, police said.
The victims included eight riders, four pedestrians, three passengers, two pillion passengers and a driver.
Police said 18 people who were injured in the accidents are admitted in separate hospitals.
Fatal accidents have been on the rise amid efforts to contain the situation.
