Five individuals lost their lives in a tragic accident on the Gilgil-Naivasha road.
Police reported that at least 19 others sustained injuries in the crash, which occurred in the Kigio area.
The victims included two men, a woman, a boy, and a girl.
According to a police report obtained by Citizen Digital, the accident involved three matatus: one from Narok Line Services, another from Mau Narok Sacco, and a third from Ennus Matatu Sacco.
Authorities stated that one of the vehicles was towing another from Naivasha towards Gilgil when the collision happened.
“The oncoming matatu overtook a fleet of vehicles and failed to return to its lane in time,” police said.
The driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to roll over multiple times.
Those injured are receiving medical treatment at Naivasha Sub County Hospital, while the bodies of the deceased have been transported to the Gilgil Sub County Hospital mortuary.
