Two workers of a supermarket in Nyamira Town stole Sh512,000 in a heist before they were caught hours later.

The two had hidden on shelves as the management of Shiv Shakti Ltd Supermarket closed the business of the day on January 18.

Past midnight, they broke out of the shelves and accessed where the day’s collection had been kept grabbing the cash.

Police said the two knew the counters that had the money before accessing them for the same.

They later broke out of the premise and escaped.

Hours later, police were called to the scene and informed there was a break-in incident at the supermarket.

It was then that it was established the two had hidden in the shelves with the mission.

They were later traced and arrested to Kegogi village where Sh108,000 believed to be part of the heist was recovered.

The two were later taken to court with stealing charges.
