A two-year-old girl drowned in Lake Victoria in Migori County, with her body later found floating along the lakeshore at Aloma Beach.
The deceased was discovered on Tuesday, August 11, 2026.
Police officers from Karungu Police Station visited the scene at Aloma Beach, where they photographed and processed the area.
The circumstances under which the child drowned were not immediately established, and police have launched investigations into the incident.
The body was later moved to St Camillus Morgue pending further investigations and necessary procedures.
Meanwhile, a 40-year-old man was electrocuted in Nyeri County while allegedly attempting to vandalise a Kenya Power transformer.
The incident occurred in Mathari Location, where the body of Mutua Wanjohi, a resident of Kihuyo Village, was found lying beside a road.
Police officers, Kenya Power personnel, DCI detectives and scenes-of-crime officers from Nyeri Central Sub-County visited the scene and established that Wanjohi had been electrocuted.
According to preliminary investigations, the deceased was allegedly attempting to dismantle the transformer when he came into contact with live electricity.
Assorted transformer components and a ladder believed to have been used during the alleged vandalism were recovered at the scene.
The scene was processed and documented by investigators.
Wanjohi’s body was moved to the Nyeri Provincial General Hospital mortuary, where it was preserved pending an autopsy.
Elsewhere, police in Masaba North, Nyamira County, have launched investigations after the body of a 40-year-old man was found at Mochénwa Market.
The body of James Areba Samuel was discovered at about 7am on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, lying in an open ground within the trading centre.
Police said there were no visible injuries on the body, although traces of blood were observed oozing from his mouth and nose.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Areba was last seen alive at about 9pm on Monday within Mochénwa Market.
Officers processed and documented the scene before moving the body to Gucha Nursing Home mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a postmortem examination.
Police have launched investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
