Evans Juma Matunda, a member of the Wiper party, submitted a formal notice to the County Assembly, aiming to initiate impeachment proceedings against Governor Amos Kimwomi Nyaribo of Nyamira County.
The notice outlines several serious charges against Nyaribo, including gross constitutional violations, abuse of office, and gross misconduct.
The document states, “Notice of Motion to consider debate and approve the removal of Amos Kimwomi Nyaribo, the Governor of Nyamira County, from office by way of impeachment.”
This marks the second attempt to remove Nyaribo from office.
The previous impeachment motion, filed earlier, failed to pass.
In that instance, the proposal was rejected by a majority of the ward representatives, with 18 voting against it and 16 in favor.
The current motion aims to address ongoing concerns about Nyaribo’s conduct and is set to be debated by the County Assembly.
The outcome of this motion will depend on the assembly’s decision and whether sufficient support can be garnered to proceed with the impeachment process.
