Residents of Suna East Sub County and neighboring areas like Awendo have expressed alarm over a criminal group known as the 42 Brothers, which is active in Migori County.
This concern arises in the aftermath of an incident where two individuals, including a teacher, were hacked by members of this gang while tracking stolen cattle in Suna-Kwa location, within Suna East Sub County.
In addition to addressing the rampant cattle theft in the region, the community urges law enforcement in Suna East Sub County to swiftly eradicate this criminal organization.
Confirming the incident, Suna Kwa location Chief Mr. Evance Achola stated that the gang targeted two individuals who were part of a team pursuing stolen cattle from the nearby Arambe sub-location.
He reported that police have apprehended six members of the gang following the attack and emphasized that efforts to combat their activities are ongoing.
Achola further noted that the gang comprises predominantly young males aged between 17 and 20 years, demonstrating a high level of coordination.
He acknowledged the considerable support from the public in addressing this issue, though there are isolated instances of reluctance, particularly from individuals with familial ties to the gang members.
