Businessman Says He Lost His Pistol After Forgetting It In Toilet In Naivasha


Police are investigating claims by a businessman he lost his pistol after he forgot it in a toilet in Naivasha town.

Moses Tanui went and reported he had lost the weapon on Sunday, June 4 after he forgot it in the toilet at Delamere shopping center on the Nairobi-Naivasha highway.

He said he was traveling from his Molo home to Nairobi when he stopped at the shopping center for a shortcall.
Tanui is a licensed gun holder.

He entered the washroom and placed his Glock pistol with 15 bullets on the window of the toilet.

After finishing with the call of nature, he said, he walked back to his car and proceeded with his journey to Nairobi, only to realize that he had forgotten his pistol in the washroom at the Delamere shopping center.

He then drove to Karen police station where police accompanied him to the scene but no recovery was made.

The said weapon had been stolen by unknown people.

Police asked to review the CCTV footage of the place as part of the probe into the incident.

The matter is being investigated with hopes of recovering the weapon, police said.

Such incidents involving both civilian and uniformed officials are common.

The weapons are usually used in crimes hence the panic from authorities.

There are more than 12,000 civilian firearm holders in the country.
