Police in Kuria West Sub-County, Migori County, are investigating the fatal stabbing of a 31-year-old man following a confrontation outside an entertainment club in Kehancha Township.
According to police, James Kibwabwa Ginono was attacked at around 4am while leaving Lamba Sports Club in the company of a friend and two women.
Police said the group was confronted by two men following an argument over the women before one of the assailants allegedly stabbed the deceased in the chest and on the right side of the neck using a knife.
The victim was rushed to Mother and Child Hospital in Kehancha while bleeding heavily but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police visited the scene where a black blood-stained dagger believed to have been used in the attack was recovered.
The body was later moved to Kehancha Sub-County Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem examination.
Police said the suspects fled after the attack and efforts to trace and arrest them are ongoing.
Elsewhere, police in Suna West Sub-County, Migori County, are investigating the discovery of suspected human remains along River Ongati in the Kababu area.
According to police, the remains were discovered on Thursday morning by a man who had gone to cut construction poles near the river.
The witness reported finding what appeared to be a human skeleton dressed in a red jacket and navy blue jeans in the river before informing a village elder, who later alerted local administration authorities.
Police officers from Oruba Police Station visited the scene and confirmed the discovery.
The scene was processed and documented before the remains were moved to Migori County Referral Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem examination and identification.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death are ongoing.
And police in Gatanga Sub-County, Murang’a County, arrested a 38-year-old man in connection with the death of his younger sister following a dispute over an alcohol bill.
Police said the incident was reported at Kirwara Police Station by Joyce Wamboi Kariuki, the mother of the deceased.
Preliminary investigations established that Beatrice Nyagathu Kariuki, 36, who worked as an attendant at Cool Shade Bar in Gatanga Centre, had quarrelled with her elder brother.
Police said the altercation allegedly arose after the suspect refused to pay an alcohol bill amounting to Sh80.
During the confrontation, the deceased sustained injuries and later complained of chest pains.
She reported the matter at Kirwara Police Station before she was referred to Kirwara Level IV Hospital, where she received first aid treatment and was discharged.
However, police said she later developed complications and died.
The scene was documented and processed before the body was moved to Kirwara Level IV Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem examination.
The suspect was arrested and remains in police custody pending arraignment in court
