Police in Mathioya Sub-County, Murang’a County, have launched investigations into the death of a 38-year-old woman whose body was discovered in a bush near Kamacharia-Kiriaini Road.
According to police, the body of the woman found at Keni village on Friday.
Police visited the scene and established that the deceased was lying naked, with her head covered using clothes believed to have been removed from her body.
Her relatives informed investigators that she had lived with epilepsy since childhood.
Police recovered her inner garment and a left shoe approximately 100 metres from where the body was found.
The right shoe was still on her foot.
Preliminary findings suggest the woman may have been sexually assaulted before her death. Investigators are also examining circumstances under which soil was allegedly found stuffed in her mouth.
No visible external injuries were noted on the body during the initial examination.
The body was moved to Kiriaini Mission Hospital mortuary, where a post-mortem examination is expected to determine the exact cause of death and assist investigators in establishing what transpired.
Police have commenced investigations into the incident.
Meanwhile, a 33-year-old man was found dead beneath a flyover near the Kondele Airport roundabout in Kisumu on Friday morning.
According to police the body of Calvin Odhiambo Oluoch was discovered at about 9:10 a.m., approximately one kilometre north of the station.
Officers reported that the deceased had no visible physical injuries.
The scene was visited by officers from the Obunga Crime Office and detectives from the DCI Kondele.
Preliminary investigations established that Oluoch lived in Obunga with his mother, who informed investigators that he was a habitual alcohol user and that his health had deteriorated over time.
Police processed the scene and moved the body to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) mortuary, where an autopsy will be conducted to establish the cause of death.
