Siaya Governor James Orengo has welcomed former Gender Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa to the Linda Mwananchi movement, a day after she announced her departure from the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
In a social media post on Friday, July 31, Orengo confirmed Jumwa’s entry into the movement, writing, “Welcome to the movement, Aisha Jumwa (Shangazi Wa Taifa).”
The governor also shared a video showing his trip to Malindi, where he met the former Cabinet Secretary. In the footage, the two are seen embracing before holding a meeting.
Jumwa’s move follows her announcement on Thursday, July 30, that she had officially severed ties with UDA after what she described as extensive consultations, personal reflection and prayer.
Speaking during a press briefing, the former CS said leaving the party was one of the most difficult decisions of her political career, adding that she had acted after listening to the people she represents.
Jumwa also accused President William Ruto of abandoning her despite her unwavering support during his presidential campaign.

She alleged that she had endured repeated humiliation, claiming she was once denied access to State House during a meeting involving Coast region leaders and that her attempts to reach the President had gone unanswered.
The former Cabinet Secretary lamented that despite her loyalty to Ruto, she had not been considered for any role in government and accused the President of allowing others to influence decisions against her.
Her decision to join Linda Mwananchi marks the latest political realignment as the movement continues to attract leaders from different political camps.
