Police are hunting down on a gang that attacked and robbed a lorry crew of 281 crates of bread and cash in Nairobi’s Kasarani area.
The crew told police they were delivering the crates of bread in Sunton area when they were attacked in Manguo Bridge in Clay City Monday morning.
They had a Hyundai Canter when they were confronted by four armed men who also robbed them of their mobile phones.
The crates contained Eliot Bread at the time of the incident.
The gang dismantled the tracking gadget on the vehicle and siphoned all fuel that was in the tank.
They then offloaded the bread to a waiting vehicle and sped off from the scene.
No arrest has been made so far. Police said the gang seemed to have mastered the operations of the crew before they struck.
A police team is pursuing the matter with the aim of getting the attackers and recovering the weapons they had.
The incident is among those that were reported in the city in a new trend.
Police statistics show up to ten violent crimes are reported in major urban areas and the attackers are bold in their missions.
The attacks come in the wake of increased deployment of police in the city, as police take steps to destabilize criminal gangs that regroup after the general election.
