Two individuals were apprehended on Friday by DCI Anti-Narcotic officers when a vehicle transporting 132 bales of bhang was intercepted at Kyanunda area along the Garissa-Thika Road.
Daniel Yohana and Ismael Wako, the driver and co-driver of an Isuzu truck with registration number KAT 198H, were captured following a search that revealed 28 bales of the illicit substance hidden in the roof cabin.

The truck was then escorted to DCI headquarters for further investigation, where a meticulous examination exposed a false bottom reinforced with robust bolts and rails, concealing an additional 104 bales.
“To avoid arousing suspicion, the vehicle was loaded with 31 mattresses, purportedly destined for awaiting customers,” stated the DCI in a release on Friday.
“The suspects have been remanded at Muthaiga Police Station, and the seized items are secured for weighing and analysis.”
In a separate incident at Fedha Estate in Embakasi, a 51-year-old woman and her 24-year-old male accomplice were arrested after sachets containing 650g of heroin were found in their residence at Fedha Heights apartment.
Mary Adhiambo and Charles Kimani Wanjiku were apprehended based on information about their involvement in drug trafficking.
They are presently detained at Muthaiga Police Station awaiting further legal procedures.
