Ride-hailing company Bolt has moved to calm fears after online reports claimed it would shut down its Kenyan operations on Monday, June 8.
In a statement released on June 1, East Africa Senior General Manager Dimmy Kanyankole dismissed the claims, clarifying that the circulating document was fake and did not originate from the company or any authorised representatives.
He stressed that Bolt remains fully operational in Kenya and continues to serve both passengers and driver partners without disruption.
“The document in circulation is false and not issued by Bolt Kenya. Our operations remain active and unaffected,” the company said, adding that it is investigating the source of the misleading publication.
Bolt further urged customers and drivers to disregard the rumour and rely only on official communication channels such as the Bolt app, the company website, and verified social media pages for accurate updates.

Kanyankole reiterated that the firm remains committed to providing safe, reliable and innovative transport services while supporting economic activity across the country.
The company also noted that it is taking steps to track down those responsible for spreading false information that caused unnecessary concern among users and partners.
Bolt entered the Kenyan market in 2016 and has since grown into one of the major ride-hailing platforms operating in the country.
