A police squad hunting down a gang that attacked and defiled a 17-year-old teenager in a village in Kisii.
The girl was in their house with four other siblings in the Nyamataro area when the gang struck at 2 am.
The parents of the children had traveled to Nairobi leaving them behind.
Police said the gang robbed the four children that were in the house of their mobile phones and other electronics.
They then gang-raped the teenager who is a form four student at a local school before escaping.
The attackers were armed with crude weapons at the time of the incident and threatened to harm the children aged between 17 and eight if they screamed for help.
The girl was rushed to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital where she was admitted in stable condition.
Police who visited the scene said no arrest or recovery had been made so far. Efforts to trace the gang are ongoing, police said.
