A 23-year-old man was stabbed to death while his elder brother sustained injuries after two suspected attackers ambushed them in Laini Village, Gatanga Sub-County, Murang’a County.
Samuel Kuria Kamau was killed during the incident that occurred at around 12.20am on Friday, October 9, 2026, in Mithandukuini Sub-location, Mugumoini Location.
According to police, Kamau and his 25-year-old brother, Antony Mwangi Waiganjo, were heading home from Laini Shopping Centre at around 11.10pm on Thursday when they encountered two men riding on a motorcycle.
The two suspects allegedly attacked the brothers with knives, stabbing Samuel at the back of his neck and his brother on the back.
Kamau succumbed to his injuries at the scene, while Antony managed to escape despite being wounded.
The surviving brother later returned to check on the victim but found the assailants had fled, leaving his sibling lying at the scene.
Members of the public responded to the incident and rushed Antony to Kirwara Level IV Hospital, where he received treatment and was discharged in fair condition.
Police officers visited the scene and documented evidence as part of the investigations.
Kamau’s body was moved to the Kirwara Level IV Hospital mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a postmortem examination.
Police said one of the suspects had been physically identified by the surviving victim but had escaped to an unknown destination.
Investigations are ongoing as officers pursue the suspects and seek to establish the circumstances surrounding the fatal attack.
And police in Gatundu South, Kiambu County, are investigating the death of a 68-year-old man who allegedly succumbed to injuries sustained in an attack by his brother.
Patrick Mbugua Kiambuthi died on October 6, 2026, at Gatundu Level Five Hospital, where he had been admitted with serious injuries following the suspected assault in Ikuma Village.
According to police, the incident is believed to have occurred on the night of Saturday, October 3, with the deceased’s brother, Peter Guchu Kiambuthia, suspected of involvement.
The victim was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, where he was diagnosed with severe head injuries. He later died while receiving treatment.
Police officers visited the hospital mortuary and the deceased’s homestead as part of investigations.
Preliminary findings indicated that the deceased had sustained injuries consistent with an assault involving a blunt object. He had visible injuries on various parts of his body, while his lower limbs appeared to have been severely fractured.
Investigators also recovered two bloodstained wooden hoe handles from the deceased’s house. The items were secured as exhibits to assist in the investigation.
Police processed both scenes as they continued investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and the suspected involvement of the deceased’s brother.
