A 59-year-old man surrendered to police in Nairobi County’s Kasarani area after allegedly killing a woman he met in a bar in Zimmerman.
Police said the murder suspect, Wangethi Chege, arrived at the police station on Tuesday and asked officers at the report office to go pick up the deceased’s body
Kasarani police boss Anthony Mbogo said when his officers went to the house they found the body in a pool of blood.
He said the suspect stated that he met the deceased at a local entertainment establishment and then took her to his house.
“He claims they met in a bar before it blossomed to something different. Then this has happened,” he said.
He then told police that he stabbed the late multiple times in the back and head, claiming she had turned into a ghost.
“He also claims that he woman turned to be a ghost and he feared she could harm him. So he decided to kill her,” said the police boss.
Police detained him after he had led them to the house he stayed with the woman and picked up the body to the mortuary.
This was after the scene was processed.
Police plan to produce the suspect in court to ask for more days as they investigate the incident.
Mbogo said among others, they will test his mental well-being.
He added they recovered two knives believed to have been used by the suspect to commit the crime.
Cases of murder have been on the rise in the city estates. Stress is among the main causes of the trend.
