Motorcyclist Killed, Motorcycle Stolen In Violent Robbery On Busia–Kisumu Road

Police have launched investigations into a violent robbery that left a 30-year-old Rwandan national dead and two others injured after they were ambushed by armed attackers along the Busia–Kisumu Road.

The incident occurred on Sunday at Nyamwanga in Butula Sub-county, Busia County, as the three men were returning from Busia after escorting a relative.

According to police, the attackers robbed the group of a red Boxer 100 motorcycle before fleeing the scene.

Police rushed to the scene after receiving the report and found the body of Charles Rugendahimana, a 30-year-old Rwandan national who was riding the motorcycle.

Police said the deceased had sustained deep cut wounds to the head, face and both hands, indicating he had been violently attacked.

His two passengers, also Rwandan nationals, survived the assault with injuries.

The two men managed to escape from the attackers and sought treatment at Ambira Sub-County Hospital in Ugunja, Siaya County, where they were treated and later discharged in fair condition.

Crime scene investigators processed and documented the scene before the body was moved to Same-Day Classmates Funeral Parlour in Sega, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination.

Police have launched a manhunt for the attackers and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal robbery.

Elsewhere, police in Nandi County have launched investigations into the death of a 35-year-old man whose body was found lying outside a residence in Himaki Centre.

The deceased, identified as Abraham Cheruyiot Chirchir, was found dead on Sunday morning at the entrance of the home a local in Himaki Centre, Nandi East Sub-county.

Police established that the deceased, who was living with a disability and hailed from Cheptilil Sublocation, had no visible physical injuries on his body.

Investigators documented and processed the scene before the body was moved to Nandi Hills Sub-County Hospital Mortuary, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.

Police said investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the death.
