Nairobi County Assembly Majority leader Peter Imwatok was summoned by the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) over inciting, threatening, and abusive words he uttered during a meeting at Chungwa House.
NCIC indicated Imwatok was recorded urging mothers, fathers, and youths to unite and storm the statehouse if Raila directed them on January 25.
The commission’s CEO Skitter Ocharo in a letter to Imwatok said the words were calculated to be threatening, inciting, abusive, and insulting contrary to section 13(1) (a) of the National Cohesion and Integration Act.
He is expected at the NCIC offices next week Tuesday to record a statement.
“Take notice that you are hereby to appear before the National and Integration Committee at the offices at Britan Towers on February 7, at 11 am to assist the commission with aforementioned ongoing investigations,” reads the letter dated January 30.
The court released Korogocho MCA Absalom Odhiambo on Wednesday unconditionally where the police were seeking to detain him for seven days pending investigations.
NCIC had summoned Odhiambo over remarks he made during an Azimio grassroots leaders meeting hosted by ODM leader Raila Odinga on Wednesday last week.
He was arrested while he waited to talk to NCIC officials at their Upper Hill offices.
Milimani principal magistrate Gilbert Shikwe ruled that the application filed was not based on any legal provision.
