
An official attached to the National Intelligence Service in Nairobi shot and killed two suspected thugs who had raided his Githunguri home, in Kiambu County.
The officer is a licensed gun holder.
He told police he was in his Kiriko home when he realized at least four suspects had jumped over the perimeter wall on July 12 morning and were vandalizing his car.
The gang opened the rear gate of the compound once inside in an effort to escape.
They then started to vandalize his salon car removing the side mirrors, headlights, fog lights, bumper, and grill.
The officer walked out of his house armed with a pistol and managed to kill two of the suspects while two others escaped.
Police visited the scene and recovered two safari bags that contained spanners and tools that they were using in the mission.
The bodies were moved to the mortuary pending identification and autopsy.
Meanwhile, police are investigating an incident in which nine thugs armed with an AK47 rifle and a pistol stormed Mora Supermarket within Suneka Township and shot dead a guard on duty.
They broke into the M-pesa shop where the tellers were counting the day’s collection and shot at the employees.
Police officers rushed to the scene and a shootout ensued but the thugs managed to escape using a getaway motorcycle with an unknown amount of cash, police said.
The security guard identified as Peter Nyaende Moenga, 60 sustained a gunshot and was rushed to Nyangena Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival while two employees sustained injuries believed to have been caused by a blunt object.
They were both rushed to Marble Hospital for treatment.
Three spent cartridges were recovered from the scene.
