Police and officials at the Kenyatta National Hospital are investigating an incident in which a patient died by suicide after jumping off from the balcony of his ward.

The body of Daniel Mohamed, 23 was found on the ground floor of the facility after he jumped off the fourth floor of the 4C ward.
He had been admitted to the hospital on June 14 after a failed mob-lynching incident in Kiamaiko area, Huruma, Nairobi.
He had been accused of being a robber in the area.
Witnesses and police said the incident happened on June 19 at about 3 am as other patients were asleep.
The motive of the incident is yet to be known.
Police said they were called and informed the patient had died after a suicide mission.
The body was moved to the same hospital mortuary pending autopsy.
Cases of suicide at the facility are common amid calls to address the trend.
In Embu’s Kibira village, the body of one Patrick Kariuki was found dangling inside his house with a rope tied around his neck.

Suicide incidents have been on the rise in the past few days at an alarming rate.
Suicide is a leading cause of death nowadays, officials say.
The World Health Organization says such cases are attributed to joblessness, death, academic failures or pressures, legal difficulties, and financial difficulties.
Other reasons are bullying, previous suicide attempts, a history of suicide in a family, alcoholism and substance misuse, depression, and bipolar disorder.
WHO rates suicide as a serious global public health issue that is among the top 20 leading causes of death worldwide.
