A 40-year-old pedestrian died after he was run over by a speeding matatu along Park Road, Nairobi.

Police and witnesses said Charles Kimani had tried to hang and steal a ride on a matatu on Wednesday night when he missed a step and fell on the road as the vehicle was in motion.

And after he fell the matatu’s rear wheels ran over him crushing his chest.

The driver told police he stopped a few meters ahead after being alerted by other pedestrians and on checking he found Kimani unconscious.

They rushed him to hospital where he succumbed while being attended to.

The vehicle was detained pending inspection as the body was moved to the mortuary.

Meanwhile, the body of a 70-year-old man was found in his house after a suspected suicide.

The family of Titus Mutuku Mbori had not been picking up his calls prompting them to check on him in his Lungalunga house.

It was then that they found him lying on the floor with a rope on his neck.

The rope is suspected to have cut off from the roof truss as he struggled to save himself.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and probe.
