Police Arrest Man After Attempting To Force Entry Into State House Using A Tuk-tuk

Police arrested a man who allegedly attempted to force his way into the restricted area of State House through Gate D in Nairobi on Sunday.

The incident was reported at about 1.32pm on October 4, 2026, after security officers manning the gate noticed a man attempting to gain entry into the restricted area.

The suspect was identified as Francis Murigi Ngugi, who reportedly comes from Kiremeri Sub-Location, Makuyu Division, Murang’a County, police said. The president was in State House then, officials said adding he was informed of the drama.

Police said Ngugi was driving a tuk-tuk when he allegedly attempted to force his way through Gate D, which is manned by General Service Unit (GSU) officers.

The officers reportedly ordered him to stop, but he allegedly failed to comply and continued driving at high speed towards barriers near the gate.

He was intercepted and apprehended by the security officers before gaining access to the restricted area.

Upon questioning, police said Ngugi told officers that he wanted to meet the President.

He did not have an appointment for the said plan.

He was placed in custody pending further investigations and appropriate action. ‎

This is the latest such drama at State House amid heightened security. Officials said following the scare, security had been heightened to deter any other threat.

On October 10, 2025, at State House Gate D along Dennis Pritt Road, which is the same area, a man attacked and killed a police officer using an arrow.

Kithuka Kimunyi Musyimi was arrested and is charged with the murder of General Service Unit (GSU) officer Ramadhan Khamisi Matanka, who was attached to State House, Nairobi.

Court documents indicate the incident occurred on October 10, 2025, at State House Gate D along Dennis Pritt Road. Prosecutors allege that Musyimiapproached the gate disguised as a street dweller and was
carrying a bow and arrows concealed in a blue sack.

He is said to have shot Constable Matanka in the chest before fleeing. The officer was rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Musyimi pleaded not guilty to the murder charge in April 2026 after undergoing a court-ordered mental assessment.
