Police Boss Loses His Pistol In unclear Circumstances In Narok

A senior police officer is under probe after he reported his official pistol is missing.

The Narok West Sub County police commander John Matasi, a Senior Superintendent of Police told his colleagues he could not locate his Ceska pistol that was loaded with 14 bullets.

Matasi who has served as an OCPD in several places had on June 14 been issued with the pistol for his official operations.

Four days later he reported he was on patrol within Aitong area and rested in his house.

He said he placed the pistol under his mattress but in the morning he found it missing.

His juniors visited the room he said he was in for a search in vain.

The matter is under probe, police said. Such weapons if and when they fall in the wrong hands are usually used in serious crimes.

Police have been mobilized to investigate the matter.

Meanwhile, suspected thugs shot a bodaboda rider in an attack in Kayole, Nairobi.

Police officers from the Karagita police post who were on patrol said they on June 19 night spotted a motorcycle with a rider and one pillion passenger which passed them at a higher speed.

This prompted the officers to give it a chase and on reaching Last Man Apartment, the pillion passenger drew a pistol and fired at one bodaboda rider namely Dontas Mwangi who was injured on the buttocks before they sped off towards Eastern Bypass.

The victim was rushed to Bristol Park Hospital and he is in stable condition.

The hunt on the gang is ongoing, police said.
