President William Ruto has ordered the arrest of those responsible for the recent clashes at the border between Kericho and Kisumu near Sondu.
These clashes have sadly resulted in the loss of seven lives.
During his visit to Nyanza, President Ruto expressed his strong stance against tribal hatred and called for action.
He instructed Interior Security Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki to take decisive measures against those involved in the violence.
In his words, he said, “There are people taking us backward and we will deal with them the same way we have dealt with the bandits in the North Rift and Al Shabaab.”
He emphasized that anyone responsible for causing the loss of innocent lives must be arrested and brought to justice.
“Niwahakikishie ya kwamba kila mtu ambaye alisababisha mwananchi akapoteza maisha yake lazima akamatwe na apelekwe jela.”
To restore peace in the affected region, CS Kindiki has taken immediate action.
Security chiefs on both sides of the border have been transferred, and a comprehensive security team has been deployed to Sondu.
Kindiki also made it clear that any security officers found to have played a role in the clashes would face consequences, and the perpetrators of these crimes would not escape justice.
He stated, “This evening, the government has deployed a contingent of specialist security personnel to contain the escalation of violent crime in Sondu Town and its environs.
Lives have been lost, property destroyed, and civil order grossly undermined during the past two days.”
