Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo conducted an inspection of Kwale Stadium on Saturday as preparations ramp up for the upcoming Mashujaa Day celebrations, set to take place on October 20.
This year’s event will be held in Kwale County at the newly constructed stadium situated in Matuga subcounty, marking a significant occasion for both the county and the nation.
During his visit, PS Omollo expressed optimism about the stadium’s progress, highlighting that the roofing is nearing completion and the grass has become increasingly vibrant.
He remarked on the improvements being made to the surrounding infrastructure, specifically the access roads leading to both the stadium and the Kwale State Lodge, which are also taking shape and expected to facilitate the influx of visitors for the celebrations.

The festivities are poised to attract significant attention as President William Ruto is slated to lead the national celebrations, underscoring the importance of the day.
Mashujaa Day, which translates to “Heroes Day” in Swahili, serves as a time to honor the individuals who played pivotal roles in Kenya’s independence struggle, as well as those who have made positive contributions to the nation in the years since.
Every year, this public holiday is an opportunity for Kenyans to reflect on their history and express gratitude towards the heroes who fought for freedom and shaped the country.
With the preparations underway, there is a sense of excitement in the air as communities come together to celebrate the spirit of unity and patriotism.
As the date approaches, local officials and residents are gearing up for a memorable event that will not only highlight the rich heritage of Kenya but also showcase the progress being made in Kwale County, particularly with the completion of this impressive stadium.
The stage is set for a celebration that promises to be both inspiring and significant.
