A suspected thug was shot dead and a pistol was recovered from him in a botched robbery incident in the Shauri Moyo area, Nairobi.
The suspect was in the company of three others and had been attacking and robbing pedestrians on Saturday evening when an alarm was raised alerting police on patrol.
The gang had robbed a pedestrian of Sh10,000 and a mobile phone in Huruma Kitui village when the victim decided to follow them.
The victim saw police and alerted them of his ordeal prompting a chase and shooting that left one dead.
Police said a Ceska pistol with four rounds of 9mm special was recovered from the suspect while his accomplices managed to escape on foot.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and hunting for the other accomplices.
A second body was found lying on the doorstep of his house after the shooting.
