In a heartbreaking incident in Chepkosa village, Bomet county, a two-year-old child lost their life due to a bee attack on Thursday.
This incident also left five other family members with severe bee stings.
Stanley Mutai, the disaster management officer of Bomet County, confirmed this unfortunate event.
“The child was playing outside their house when the bees suddenly started hovering around the compound – and began to sting everyone who was outside,” said Mutai
Desperate efforts were made to save the child by rushing them to Sigor sub-county hospital, but tragically, the child was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The other family members who were stung by the bees received medical treatment and have since been discharged.
According to Mutai, the bees lingered around the area for several hours, causing neighbors to stay indoors out of fear of getting attacked.
The child’s body has been taken to the morgue at Longisa Referral Hospital.
