Two Police Officers Killed In Separate Accidents In Nakuru And Kirinyaga


Two police officers were Saturday night killed in two separate accidents in Nakuru and Kirinyaga counties.

The first incident happened in Kaptarakwa area along Subukia-Solai road in Nakuru where a police officer died while a second one was seriously injured after they were involved in an accident.

They were being ferried on a motorcycle when the accident happened on Saturday, June 3 night, police said.

The rider was also seriously injured after the midnight incident.

The two officers attached to Mwitethia Patrol Base were on a motorcycle headed for Solai when the rider lost control and landed in a ditch killing one on the spot.

The injured were rushed to the Subukia Sub County hospital where they were admitted while the body was taken to the Nyahururu County mortuary.

The second female officer died along Kirinyaga-Kutus Road at Rosepark area on Saturday evening.

The officer attached to DCI Kirinyaga was driving a private car when she lost control and veered off the road and rolled.

The female officer was injured in the head and was rushed to hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

This came as the death toll from the Githunguri Kwa Michael accident that occurred on Friday along Kiambu-Ruiru road in Kiambu County rose to eight.

This is after two people died while undergoing treatment at hospitals in Kiambu and Ruiru, police said.

Seven survivors are receiving treatment in different hospitals in Kiambu and Githunguri.

Locals are now calling upon the government to push a road contractor to resurface and complete the Kiambu – Githunguri Road.

Residents also want the road under construction to be fitted with signage and speed bumps as well as rumbles, to enable motorists to control their speed.

In the crash that occurred at around 7:30 pm on Friday where a matatu collided head-on with a private vehicle.
