CCTV Unveils Suspect In Roysambu Airbnb Incident

On Monday morning, Kasarani Police Station detectives investigated the disturbing killing of a 20-year-old girl in Roysambu.

Her body parts had been gruesomely disposed of in a trash bin, prompting an intense search for the perpetrator.

The focus of the investigation shifted to CCTV footage near the Airbnb building where the crime occurred on Saturday night

Detectives, scouring house-to-house and shop-to-shop for evidence, spent over six hours in pursuit of the still-at-large suspect.

The footage, recorded around 4:20 pm on Saturday, shows the suspect talking on the phone outside a shop next to the crime scene.

Wearing a white cap and spectacles and clutching a black bag, the suspect appeared hurried.

After a brief interaction with the cashier, he left but returned five minutes later to settle the payment before departing.

This footage marks the last known sighting of the suspect, who was supposed to return the keys on Sunday but failed to do so.

Risper Muthoni, the Airbnb property owner, received a call from the caretaker who discovered the victim’s body parts in a trash bag within the house.

The remains, now at City Mortuary, were positively identified by the family, awaiting the conclusion of police investigations.

According to sources, the victim had informed a friend that she was going to have dinner in Roysambu but did not show up the following day, with her phone switched off.

This incident occurred just two weeks after the killing of Starlet Wahu in South B, leading to the government issuing new directives for private security officers.

Private Security Regulatory Authority CEO Fazul Mahamed outlined protocols requiring officers to verify visitors’ identities, record entry and exit times, and temporarily retain identification documents.

Other measures include maintaining detailed logs of vehicles, ensuring functional CCTVs, implementing updated access control policies, and keeping a security occurrence book to record daily incidents.

The rules stress that identification documents must be returned to visitors upon exit and not used for any other purpose.

Failure to comply may result in license cancellation and prosecution.
