Chance the Rapper and his wife Kirsten Corley have decided to part ways after five years of marriage.
The announcement came through a shared statement on their Instagram Stories, where they expressed their decision to separate amicably after a period of reflection.
“We came to this decision amicably and with gratitude for the time we spent together.
God has blessed us with two beautiful daughters who we will continue to raise together. We kindly ask for privacy and respect as we navigate this transition.
Thank you,” the couple wrote in their statement.
The couple’s relationship had its ups and downs, with Chance and Kirsten first dating in 2013 and welcoming their daughter Kensli in 2015.
They briefly separated in 2016, during which they had a child support case in court.
However, in 2018, they reconciled and eventually tied the knot in 2019, welcoming their second daughter, Marli, later that same year.
Chance’s debut studio album, The Big Day, heavily draws inspiration from their relationship, reflecting the highs and lows they experienced together.
Before their wedding, Chance shared a heartwarming anecdote about how he first met Kirsten in 2003 at his mother’s office party when he was just nine years old.
Despite feeling a connection with her, he refrained from introducing himself, feeling as though he knew he would marry her one day.
Their relationship faced public scrutiny last year after a video surfaced showing Chance in a compromising position at a Carnival.
This incident led to public discussions, with both Chance and Kirsten sharing their perspectives indirectly on social media.
While Chance referenced their impending marriage as destiny, their recent announcement marks a new chapter for the couple as they navigate their separation with respect and privacy.
