The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has conducted a search operation in Embu Town as part of ongoing investigations into alleged corruption at the National Youth Service (NYS).
The operation was carried out at Mavvel Hotel following a court order.
It targeted David Mbogo Muthee, the Head of Procurement at the NYS Training School in Gilgil, along with his associate, Naftali Kiperu.
According to EACC, the investigation focuses on suspected conflict of interest and abuse of office involving senior NYS officials.
The suspects are believed to have conducted business with the agency through companies linked to them.
The commission says these dealings may have resulted in payments amounting to about Ksh.2 billion over a five-year period, from the 2019/2020 to the 2024/2025 financial years.
During the search, investigators recovered important documents and materials expected to support the case.
EACC stated that once the investigations are complete, appropriate action will be taken.
This may include prosecution of those found responsible and recovery of any unexplained wealth or proceeds linked to corruption.
