Ex-NRG Radio presenters have publicly accused Kamene Goro, the station’s CEO, of creating a hostile work environment.
In a live session on Instagram, Angie Chege and several other former employees claimed that Kamene routinely bullied staff and undermined colleagues, causing multiple exits from the station.
Angie Chege, who joined the station on April 30, 2024, but left soon after, spoke openly about her experiences, sharing how Kamene’s actions affected her perception of the CEO.
“I looked up to her initially, but she was far from what she seemed,” Angie shared, mentioning that Kamene often used her personal connections to belittle others and even criticized Angie for how she greeted listeners.
The former employees also attributed social media star King Kalala’s departure to alleged bullying from Kamene.
Despite Kamene and Kalala appearing friendly in public, the presenters claim Kamene’s harsh treatment behind the scenes made Kalala uncomfortable.
Kalala, who joined the station with hopes of mentorship, reportedly faced demeaning remarks and, over time, decided to leave.
Kalala’s departure on October 8, 2024, came shortly after that of her colleague Natalie Githinji, who also resigned, following three years at NRG.
Kamene took over as CEO in April 2024 and co-hosted the NRGTransit show with King Kalala.
However, her leadership has seen several notable figures depart from the Westlands-based station, including Shaquille O’Neill Oduk (known as ShaqtheYungin), who left after six years, and popular presenters Mwalimu Rachel and DJ Xclusive, both of whom departed in March.
As the claims gain public attention, listeners and former employees alike are expressing concerns about the internal environment at NRG Radio. Kamene Goro has yet to respond publicly to the allegations.
