In a culmination of discussions on climate change partnerships for Africa, Kenya, under the leadership of President William Ruto, has sealed deals worth $4.5 billion (equivalent to Sh.680 billion) to support the country’s green industrialization efforts.

President Ruto, alongside other African heads of state, took the lead in the Africa Green Industrialization Initiative, an initiative aimed at expediting and expanding green industries and businesses throughout the continent.

Of the total funding, $1.5 billion (Sh.225 billion) will be allocated to finance green fertilizer projects.

Another Ksh.90 billion will be dedicated to establishing a data center in collaboration with KenGen and Konza City, while Sh.150 billion is earmarked for a 300-megawatt geothermal project at Suswa.

These investments are set to propel various projects forward, with ongoing initiatives such as the Ndeda Shores project in Siaya County contributing to the acceleration of such endeavors.

In related developments, an East African Regional Force has initiated its withdrawal from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), marking a significant shift in regional dynamics.
