Mama Rachel Ruto Launches Maternity Hospital In Eldoret

First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto inaugurated a groundbreaking 70-bed specialized maternity hospital in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu, aligning with the national government’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), which prioritizes healthcare.

Named the Mama Rachel Ruto Maternity Hospital, the facility is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including a fully equipped theatre, a class E laboratory, a fully stocked pharmacy, an ICT center, and advanced diagnostic equipment.

Mama Rachel emphasized the hospital’s role in providing maternal, neonatal, prenatal, and pediatric care for mothers in the county and the wider North Rift region.

The hospital’s operationalization aims to enhance access to specialized healthcare services and serve as a referral center for maternal and infant emergencies.

Mama Rachel also praised collaborations between the county government of Uasin Gishu and international partners, emphasizing the hospital’s role as a national case study for optimizing healthcare resources through technology.

Additionally, she highlighted the use of drone technology to collect medical samples, enhancing healthcare access, especially in remote areas.

The initiative reflects Kenya’s commitment to achieving Universal Health Care coverage by integrating technology into healthcare delivery.

Uasin Gishu Governor Dr. Jonathan Chelilim acknowledged the hospital’s launch, revealing that it comprises state-of-the-art equipment worth Sh1 billion donated by the French Government.

The facility will offer various health services, including reproductive health, maternal, and child health services, catering to the needs of the local community and enhancing skill development among healthcare workers.
