Four male suspects were arrested at a petrol station and found with a plastic revolver, six rubber bullets, and a knife marked “AK47” in Nairobi.
The men were riding in a car and had stopped at a petrol station along Kenyatta Avenue when they were intercepted by police on Wednesday June 4 morning.
The intervention followed a tip-off from members of the public, who had observed one of the individuals brandishing what appeared to be a firearm, arousing suspicion, police said.
Upon searching the vehicle and its occupants, police recovered a plastic revolver, six rubber bullets, and a knife marked “AK47”.
All suspects, who appeared intoxicated at the time, were arrested and taken into custody for further questioning, and the vehicle was impounded as investigations continue.
Police say they have enhanced operations to tame crime in the city.
This has seen a number of suspects being arrested and arraigned with various offences.
Police urged for continued support from the public to tame the crime in general.
Meanwhile, police in Runda, Nairobi are investigating an incident in which gunmen in civilian and claiming to be police officers beat up guards at a barrier.
Two guards were manning the barrier along Northern Bypass on Tuesday night when a black land cruiser with three men drove in from Ruaka direction.
