President William Ruto paid an unexpected visit to the Kibera Affordable Housing Project on Tuesday.
During his impromptu inspection, the President reviewed the progress of the ongoing project, which is slated for completion next year.
The Kibra Affordable Housing Project is a significant initiative consisting of 4,054 units, including one-room, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments.
These units will be distributed across 18 blocks, accompanied by the development of essential internal infrastructure and amenities.

Hussein Mohamed, the spokesperson for State House, emphasized that the government’s goal is to foster a new generation of homeowners through the Affordable Housing Programme.
The ambitious plan aims to construct 250,000 houses annually, specifically targeting low-income earners.
Mohamed stated, “The President has already commissioned 17, 850 units in Mukuru, Rongai, and Kibera to ease the housing burden affecting low-income earners.”
Additionally, ongoing construction efforts across the country include the development of 28,942 units, according to the State House spokesperson.
President Ruto had previously outlined that the Affordable Housing Programme is designed to benefit over 6.5 million Kenyans residing in slums and informal settlements.
The impromptu visit to the Kibra Affordable Housing Project reaffirms the government’s commitment to addressing housing challenges for those with limited financial means.
