Seven Arrested And Cocaine Worth Sh.3.7 Million Seized In Lamu

Authorities in Lamu County have arrested seven individuals in connection with a significant drug bust that led to the seizure of approximately 928 grams of cocaine, with an estimated street value of Sh.3.7 million.

This operation, conducted by the Anti-narcotic Unit teams, was part of a broader effort to combat the sale and distribution of illegal drugs.

According to a statement released by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Tuesday, the operation targeted several locations suspected of being hubs for drug trafficking.

During a search at one of the identified houses, officers recovered a weighing machine and five pellets of cocaine, totaling about 85 grams.

They also found a clear polythene bag containing approximately 164 grams of the substance.

The DCI further reported that, “One of the targeted houses belonged to Muuna Omar Bori, where a weighing machine and 5 pellets weighing approximately 85 grams were recovered.”

At another location, the home of Shamuni Mwalimu Shamuni, officers discovered a polythene bag containing approximately 354 grams of cocaine.

Similarly, a raid at Fatma Mote Yusuf’s house revealed cocaine weighing about 325 grams.

The seven individuals taken into custody are Nuura Omar Bori (34), Mote Mwalimu Shamuni (41), Shamuni Mwalimu Shamuni (41), Omar Mohamed Omar (23), Mohamed Abdallah (35), Fami Abdulrahman Mohamed (42), and Fatma Mote Yusuf (40).

These suspects will remain in police custody until their court arraignment.

This operation is part of ongoing efforts by national authorities to curb drug-related crimes and reduce the prevalence of illicit substances in the community.
