On Wednesday, President William Ruto of Kenya joined President Joe Biden at the White House in Washington, D.C., for a roundtable discussion focused on technology.
President Ruto praised the United States for its increased investment in the digital sector, emphasizing that this commitment will enhance opportunities and improve lives not only in Kenya but throughout Africa.
“No partnership is as valuable as one that is anchored on technology,” President Ruto stated.
Following the roundtable, President Ruto met with the Speaker of the U.S.
House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, and interacted with members of Congress from both the Democratic and Republican parties at the U.S. Capitol.
He emphasized the importance of Kenya-US cooperation and expressed optimism for stronger ties and collaborations, particularly in addressing conflicts and security challenges in the Horn of Africa.
Additionally, President Ruto held discussions with U.S. Senators, including Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.
During his visit, he was honored as an Honorary Member of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC).
President Ruto acknowledged the Congressional Black Caucus’s crucial role in promoting social justice, human rights, and economic development worldwide.
He urged Congress to lead in restructuring the global financial system to ensure it is more inclusive and equitable.
“A bold, robust and targeted approach will free Africa of the debt burden and transform the world,” he declared.
President Ruto also visited Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia, where he paid tribute to America’s fallen heroes.
