Detectives in Embu County are probing two separate murder cases reported in the region.
The first incident occurred in Majengo on Monday, where the body of Murimi Nue, a 27-year-old night guard at a bakery, was discovered with severe head injuries, facial trauma, neck bruises, and a deep cut on his right hand.
Police noted that blood was seen oozing from his mouth, suggesting he was violently attacked.
The motive behind the crime remains unclear, but authorities believe he may have been killed while resisting a robbery.
The body has been transported to the mortuary for an autopsy and further investigation.
In another case from Runyenjes, a 28-year-old man named John Mugambi Njeru was fatally stabbed in a dispute over land.
Police reported that the confrontation between Njeru and his father, who allegedly used a kitchen knife during the altercation, resulted in the young man’s death shortly after being admitted to Karurumo Health Centre.
The father is currently being sought by authorities in connection with the stabbing.
The body has also been moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and further investigation.
Meanwhile, in Kathiani, Machakos, police are investigating the murder of 74-year-old John Matheka Muasya.
His body was discovered in Kithunthi village with severe head and facial injuries. The violence reportedly stemmed from a domestic dispute with his brother.
A bloodstained wooden stick was recovered from the scene and is being used as evidence.
The body has been taken to Kathiani Level Four Hospital Mortuary for an autopsy, and the suspected assailant has been arrested for questioning and potential charges.
Additionally, in Kamagambo, Migori County, police are examining the death of Tobias Odhiambo, who was killed by a mob after being accused of motorcycle theft.
The mob’s actions led to his death, and his body has been sent to the mortuary for an autopsy.
Authorities are condemning the act of mob justice, urging that suspects be handed over to the legal system for proper processing and prosecution.
