Ugandan Boy, 2 Dies After Ingesting Poison In Kiambu

Police are investigating an incident in which a two and half-year-old Ugandan boy died after ingesting poison in a village in Kiambu County.

Martin Lukholo is said to have swallowed the chemical that he picked at their neighbor’s house on May 4 in Kagongo village in Ndenderu, police said.

The boy is said to have found a bottle containing the poisonous chemical on the table of the neighbor’s house and swallowed the contents.

On realizing the boy had swallowed the chemical, the owners of the house disposed of the bottle into a pit latrine as others rushed him to hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The parents of the boy were in their house at the time of the incident.

Police said they want to retrieve the bottle from the latrine for tests and analysis of the said poison.

The latrine was secured as a scene of crime until when the bottle is retrieved.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending further probe.

Elsewhere in Kibera slums an Ethiopian national was found dead in his room two days after he had complained he had not had food.

The body of Joseph Defere Ghutta was found in his room while half naked and with some foam from his mouth.

His neighbors told the police.

The deceased is said to have complained of having not eaten for two days and had earlier complained of a stomachache for the last three days, the neighbors said.

Police said the deceased went to his house on Saturday morning and failed to show up until his body was discovered a day later.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy.

Police say they are investigating the cause of the deaths of the two foreigners.
