A joint effort by various agencies in Narok County has resulted in the confiscation of more than 500 liters of illicit alcohol from a liquor den in Majengo estate, Narok town.
The operation, spearheaded by Narok Central Division’s Assistant County Commissioner (ACC) Abdishakur Ali, led to the arrest of an individual suspected to be the owner of the establishment, operating without a valid license.
According to Ali, the raid was prompted by intelligence indicating the continued operation of the illegal establishment despite government directives to shut down such operations.
He stated, “I led a multiagency team comprising of police officers, chiefs, and village elders who raided the drinking premises that was operating illegally and recovered the illicit brew.”

The confiscated items included 30 liters of Chang’aa, 300 liters of Kangara, and numerous cartons of second-generation alcoholic beverages.
Ali emphasized the importance of community involvement, urging residents to report any premises selling alcoholic drinks without proper licensing.
He stressed, “Only the licensed premises will be allowed to sell alcoholic drinks.
I ask the members of the public to be on guard and report any person selling unregulated alcohol.”
Expressing gratitude for public cooperation, Ali emphasized the detrimental effects of illicit alcohol consumption on families and the community at large.
He urged people to only consume legally approved drinks, stating, “Many families have lost their loved ones and others remained in poverty because of consuming illicit alcohol that harms their bodies.
That is why we are encouraging people to only consume the drinks that have been legally allowed by the government.”
The crackdown on illicit brewing in Narok County has been ongoing, with local authorities destroying hundreds of liters of illegal brew since last month.
